Emily's Gift
George Macey's grandmother Emily had little in terms of material goods.
Her husband Harry managed an apartment building, where they lived, just east of Church of the Redeemer at the corner of Avenue Rd. and Bloor W. in Toronto. Every year when the Santa Claus parade went by, Emily would send Harry out to stake out a curbside spot for her grandchildren to get the best view of Santa. George tells us about his grandparents Emily and Harry, how Emily had been a Home Child, and Harry was born and raised in Yorkville. He spent 60 years looking after the apartment building, was a lifelong Orangemen, devoted to King and Crown, and had some quite unusual accomplishments to his credit.
