James Gardens: A Family Connection

When Doris Dunne was a little girl, she and her family used to visit James Gardens in Etobicoke on the edge of the Humber River.

Back then, it wasn’t a public park; it was the estate of the James’ family and had been developed by Fred James, a successful businessman who had made his money in fish. His wife, Margaret James, was Doris’s great aunt. Before Doris passed away in 2025, she shared some of her memories of the estate and of the little gifts her great aunt used to bring back from her world travels. The video was edited by Doris’s daughter Maureen Chicorli. We are thankful she so generously shared her memories and thankful, too, to Maureen for taking on the task of editing the interviews.
