The Pull of the Stars, Part 2: Creating a Show at the McLaughlin Planetarium
Peter Jones started work as a teenager at the McLaughlin Planetarium, operating the complex systems that could project the stars and galaxies on to the dome of the Star Theatre.
He describes the steps that went into creating a new show and all of the work that was done in-house. The Planetarium was closed as a cost-cutting measure when the Royal Ontario Museum budget was cut by the Conservative provincial government of Mike Harris. In 2009, the ROM sold the site to the University of Toronto, and complete demolition began in April, 2026. Greg Ingham made this video.
