Hidden and inaccessible in the depths of Yorkdale are the original cinemas that welcomed moviegoers when the mall opened in 1964.
At the time, it was the largest enclosed mall in the world. Over the years, the shopping centre grew and a new Cineplex opened. Greg Ingham, who worked on a Yorkdale expansion, remembers the eerie underground space and explains why it’s there.
